During the course of the week I was on my way home from work thinking about an interaction I had witnessed between two parties over money. As I was going over the dealings in my head the Lord put on my heart, that it is like money is becoming a part of peoples DNA. They are just too caught up in their money. So I write this article to remind us all, myself included, to not get caught up in the things that can distract us from God’s purpose for our life, money is not supposed to rule over us, no thing is to rule us, we are to rule over it. We are to have dominion. From the very outset God commanded us to have dominion. We have a purpose and with the short time we have left we must remember that God will fulfil his promise that he will provide the means necessary to fulfil our purpose. It is vitally important that we stay focussed.
It is concerning these days that the care factor of people toward one another has almost taken second place to things such as the value of a dollar, the care factor for one’s self is at an all time high. When Jesus came... he said that he came not to be served but to serve, he came to heal the sick and set the captives free. We read often in the scriptures of how Jesus cuts across the bow of peoples mindsets, for example, when he was accused / questioned as to why he related to the people in this passage. How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? He answers them with, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Today we are the physician, Jesus told us greater things we will do than when he walked the earth. Unfortunately today it would seem that the Physician/Christian at times is in more need of healing than the publican . We need to read and apply the scriptures constantly as we will only have enough oil to go the distance if we do this. We are supposed to be more than conquerors. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, and I will continue to say it. We need to sing the old songs from years ago in our churches that had scriptures in the lyrics, singing the scriptures, the church was so strong then, but now not so much. The scripture is our point of reference or compass, it is the one thing we ALL, as Christians should agree on. Today someone says something we don’t like at church and we tend to run for the door grabbing at any excuse we can, to justify our exit. Don’t get me wrong sometimes it is wise to exit as some church groups it would seem, are almost hell bent on destruction. On another point there has been good seasoned Bible based Christians that have stayed in churches and challenged leadership that are off track and need Biblically pulling into line only to have then been ushered out the door. I say to those people stay strong fight the good fight, keep on keeping on, I encourage you and applaud your efforts, believe me God is in agreement with anyone that warns the city of danger.
Above I mentioned the word Focussed, and the fact is people have a spotlight focussing in the area of building an asset base rather than a scripture base. Again it is vitally important that we stay focussed.
Mathew 24
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
It is interesting in the previous verse’s to the above scriptures that the Lord’s prayer is noted telling us to pray and therefore focus on Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
I place the Lord’s prayer, and emphasise the scripture regarding the value of things, on earth, to lead to the following point. In earth as it is in heaven, not in heaven as it is on earth. We are seeing the Christian being heavily influenced by the material things of this world. We need to be ever so careful, we need to stay focussed on the scripture, and the things of this world are to be secondary. Another issue that seems to be popping up often is a twisting or a misreading of scripture, to suit the weakness of the flesh. Example, when Jesus said the following
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elects’ sake those days shall be shortened. People immediately assume they won’t have to go through any form of hardship and straight away relax. In Timothy we read that things are going to get real shaky....1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. Following is the definition of perilous.
full of danger or risk.
"a perilous journey south"
synonyms: | dangerous, fraught with danger, hazardous, risky, unsafe, treacherous; More |
antonyms: | safe, secure |
- exposed to imminent risk of disaster or ruin.
David Meece wrote and sang a song called, “Time is running out”
The fleshly desires of this world are not worth the peace of eternity.
Let’s all stay focused.
