How the Mighty Have Fallen

This phrase – ‘to fall is to trade the power of
love for the love of power’ - has been around for many
centuries. Most would not know it’s origin others would, it
actually comes from the biblical account of the fall of Satan,
Lucifer, mentioned in Isaiah 14

"How you have fallen from heaven, Lucifer day-star,
son of the morning! how you are cut down to the ground, that did
lay low the nations! You said in your heart, I will ascend into
heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; and I will
sit upon the mount of congregation, in the uttermost parts of the
north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make
myself like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to hell,
to the uttermost parts of the pit.

They that see you shall gaze at you, they shall consider you,
saying, Is this the man (created being) that made the earth to
tremble, that shook kingdoms; that made the world as a
wilderness, and overthrew the cities thereof; and refused to
loose his prisoners to their home?"

Again in Ezekiel 28;12,

"Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of
Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord Jehovah: You seal up the
sum, (are complete) full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. You
were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy
covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the
onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of instruments and of pipes
was in you; in the day that you were created they were prepared.
Thou were the anointed cherub that covered and I set you there,
so that you were upon the holy mountain of God; you walked up and
down in the midst of the stones of fire.

You were perfect in all your ways from the day that you were
created, till unrighteousness was found in you. By the abundance
of traffic (commerce) they filled the midst of you with violence,
and you sinned: therefore have I cast you as profane out of the
mountain of God; and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub,
from the midst of the stones of fire. Thy heart was lifted up
because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason
of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid
you before kings, that they may behold you By the multitude of
your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your traffic, you have
profaned your sanctuaries; therefore have I brought forth a fire
from the midst of you; it has devoured you, and I have turned you
to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold
you.

All they that know you among the peoples shall be astonished
at you: you have become a terror, and you shall have no being
forever."

Note that God in Isaiah 14 refers to Satan as a man not an
angel because like us he is a created being HE IS NOT GOD, NOT
LIKE GOD AND DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER OR THE CHARACTER OF GOD.
Lucifer rebelled against his and also our creator, seeking
greater autonomy and independence from the created position of
grace and prominence given him. We, like Lucifer and in turn the
mother of all woman Eve in the garden, need to be aware of this
folly of seeking independence from almighty God our creator, as
we do not possess the wisdom or divine knowledge to sustain
ourselves in this fallen state. People do not understand that in
the garden of perfection there were two trees, firstly there was
the tree of life the symbol of Christ himself the source of all
divine grace, knowledge and eternal power, then secondly there
was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil from which stemmed
the KNOWING OFGOOD AND EVIL.

The two trees are distinct and different. The tree of life is
the expression of the life of God and His nature along with His
perspective on every matter, the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil is the underlying mechanism by which the whole of
creation is governed. In a creation which has no ability to
exercise a personal choice it is considered not a free society
but a totalitarian society and Jehovah our God is not a
totalitarian dictator. He wants a society over which He is able
to govern and also which allows His creation and beings to have
autonomy and choice, but who choose to honour and serve Him
because of His superior wisdom and character, knowing His way is
always to benefit us and promote our good.

The tree of life (Jesus) will always bring about our good and
benefit, because His nature is only motivated by good, not evil,
therefore if we draw from the tree of life in preference to the
tree of knowledge of good and evil we will always be motivated by
Gods way of doing things and will always seek others welfare and
goodness. However if our concern is not to feed from the fruit of
the tree of life, we will alternatively draw from the tree of
knowledge, only knowing about good and evil, but constantly
biased toward the choice of evil. If this is our choice, and God
must allow us the choice, we will exercise our God given choice
but be devoid of or without his divinely inspired life and wisdom
to do only what is good.

This is exactly the lie that Eve and Adam succumbed to, that
they could be like God in knowledge but without His divine
righteous and just nature. Mankind now has been polluted in his
innermost being by a corruption of his nature and thinking, which
has caused him to deviate from the path of justice and truth
putting him on a biased path of evil and selfishness, leading him
away from God.

KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM BEING EITHER
GOOD OR EVIL

You can be a person who has been brought up with very little
knowledge of justice or right and therefore become a prominent
leader and destroy the very people who helped get you to that
position of prominence, as you have what is known as corrupt
scruples. Unscrupulous, or lacking scruples, means to have no
decency, or respect for others, to have no morals, to be devoid
of conscience. This kind of person is totally given over to their
own power and egotistical wellbeing. (Doesn’t that sound
like many modern politicians, lawyers as well as business and
civic leaders in today’s society?) You see when man and
woman partook of the tree of knowing good and evil they were not
in a state of having the divine life of God Himself in them to
deal with the knowledge that good and evil would unveil to them.
God’s will was always to bring man to a place of likeness
with Him so that man would have perfect unrestricted fellowship
with Him through the spirit of life yet have no bias of evil in
his nature constantly drawing him toward evil. Therefore God
would have taught man His perspective on good and evil from the
position of eternal right, goodness and justice, so that humanity
would be a people of right scruples. Not just knowing good and
evil, but by BEING POSSESSED AND INDWELT BY GOOD AND THEN
SUBSEQUENTLY KNOWING THE CONSEQUENCES OF BOTH GOOD AND EVIL.

By taking from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, EVE
then ADAM were inseminated with the nature of sin and evil, thus
making them independent from God and possessed and therefore
motivated by evil. Consequently it resulted in them being
banished from the garden so that they could not partake of the
tree of eternal life and become eternally evil, BEYOND
REDEMPTION. The basic sin of Satan and then man, along with the
entire fallen angelic host that rebelled with Lucifer was their
sin of seeking independence from God thus the subtle words of
Satan that he spoke to Eve, "you can be like God yet not be
subject to him." Realize here that the two trees are not the
tree of knowing good and alternatively the tree of knowing evil,
the two trees are firstly the tree of life and then alternatively
the tree from which comes the knowledge of BOTH GOOD AND EVIL but
without the power to do the good. You can know all there is to
know about good and evil yet not do good, but only evil, but if
you are a just and righteous scrupled person you will be a wise
person knowing the precepts of life which are eternal and still
have the knowledge of BOTH GOOD AND EVIL. The difference is that
you will only ever want to do good.

The Bible tells us that what tree we draw from is what will
control and direct our lives and conscience. If it is the tree
from which the fruit comes then that is the thing and spirit of
which we will reproduce. Most people say Eve ate an apple, no
where in scripture does it tell us that the fruit in the garden
was an apple, it was actually the seductive and subtle fruit of
deception, sedition and independence that seduced and transmitted
its following subsequent generation of modified seed into the
nature of man kind, causing him to fall from his god given
perfection.

A point worthy of note again here is to constantly remind
yourself no matter how intense evil and injustice prevail is that
Lucifer is a created being not a creator, he has never possessed
the power to create and never will. He, like mankind is only
capable of taking what God himself already created and
transforming that into an image of his own, by the reshaping or
the modification of it. By the way I am not sure if the right
word to describe our ability to reshape a thing is to modify it,
as that word conveys the thought of upgrading or perfecting it to
a better standard and I do not believe we are able to better what
God has created. Like Satan, we become driven by conceit,
thinking we can better Gods ways and designs but, as in the
process of genetic modification, we have not yet seen the horror
of that foolish thinking as time alone will reveal the results as
they become more and more obvious.

We see then that man is destined for destruction as everything
he does has the stamp and mark of death upon it. Like Satan who
is Lucifer, neither he nor man can give life separate from God as
God alone is represented as the tree or source of all life from
which we must eat, even in the new heaven and new earth that is
coming.

Rev 2:7

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to
the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the Tree
of Life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev 22:2

In the midst of its street, and of the river, from here
and from there, was the Tree of Life, which bore twelve fruits,
each yielding its fruit according to one month. And the leaves of
the tree were for the healing of the nations.
