Roman Catholicism – Mystery Babylon – Part 4

Revelation 17:1-6 "Then one of the seven angels
who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me,
‘Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who
sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed
fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk
with the wine of her fornication.’ So he carried me away in
the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a
scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven
heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet,
and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in
her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of
her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS
OF THE EARTH. I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints
and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I
marveled with great amazement. "

In this final expose on the Catholic Church, we will
investigate the connection between Mystery Babylon and the Roman
Catholic Church. I will also mention once again that this series
has been compiled in response to Pope Benedict’s scurrilous
pronouncement last year that salvation is found only in the
Catholic Church and other churches are lost sheep. This is arrant
nonsense, and in this one statement we have a demonstration of
one of the major identifying hallmarks of a cult.

The key Scriptures in Revelation 17 concerning Mystery Babylon
and the scarlet woman riding the beast are shown in the above
text box. To lay a foundation however, we need to go back in time
to the early days of the Old Testament to look at the beginnings
of ancient Babylon.

There, on the banks of the once mighty Euphrates River,
Nimrod, the King of Babylon, and his seductive Queen, Semiramis,
oversaw the building of a huge and unholy architectural
monstrosity, the Tower of Babel. Their aim: Establish a One World
Order and unite all nations and peoples in the worship of
Lucifer, the deity recognized by the ancients under such names as
Baal, Marduk, and Nebo. When the Lord saw the possibility that
because of the fact that the people were in unity and spoke one
language that whatever they proposed to do would be possible, He
took action against them.

Genesis 11:7-9 records, ‘"Come, let Us go down
and there confuse their language, that they may not understand
one another’s speech.’ So the LORD scattered them
abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased
building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because
there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from
there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the
earth."

Today, our planet is experiencing a great revival of the
government and worship of Nimrod’s Babylon. This was
prophesied to occur (Revelation 17 & 18). Now that time is
come, and once again, man is building yet another towering
edifice of evil. However, this time the Tower is more a spiritual
idea than it is bricks and mortar, although the finished work
will be a system of absolute control, (both spiritual, political
and economic), with worldwide influence in the same way as its
predecessor. It will be driven by unseen, but effective, satanic
spiritual power.

Mystery Babylon and the revelation as to the identity of the
woman and the beast are given by an angel as recorded in
Revelation 17:7-18. We find that Mystery Babylon is two systems,
both evil. Revelation 17 & 18 shows two distinct judgments
over these two systems. Revelation 17 shows the judgment which
God inflicts on the apostate harlot church, or religious
Babylon and Revelation 18 records the judgment God
brings on Commercial/Political Babylon.

One part of this demonic strategy is a religious system and
the other a political/economic system. Both combine as Babylon
the Great. This requires two leaders and so we have the basis of
the demonic Trinity. Satan empowers the new rising of Babylon
with the False Prophet to rule over the One World religious
system, and the Antichrist to rule over the economic system. They
will eventually wield total power.

The rise of the end time Babylon will lead the nations of the
earth into spiritual adultery. In the Old Testament Israel was
described as an adulterous nation because she often cheated on
the Lord and turned to other gods. The same should be understood
of the new Babylonic system. She is a power that has rejected God
and turned to other forms of worship, the first being idolatry
and the second materialism. Revelation clearly teaches this. The
major threat the Church of Jesus Christ will face is also
spiritual adultery – compromise and idolatry in all its
forms.

Who or what then, fits the Bible description of the players
that make up the end times Mystery Babylon? We have part of our
answer in the Book of Daniel. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and
saw a great image. Daniel was able to tell the King the image
represented every world dominating kingdom from that present time
to the end. Many of you will be aware of the final Kingdom,
represented by toes of iron and clay in Daniel’s image, as
being a revived Roman Empire (Daniel 2:41-44). It seems at this
time that the EU has all the credentials to be such an
entity.

However, our concern is with religious Babylon. John describes
the beast that carries the woman having seven heads and ten
horns. Then in v9 and v18 of Revelation 17 we are given the keys
to unlock the meaning, "Here is the mind which has
wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman
sits … And the woman whom you saw is that great city which
reigns over the kings of the earth."

This picture cannot be anything other than Rome, the city
built on seven hills! The woman is the Roman Catholic Church. She
is Mystery Babylon. Dave Hunt records, "As for
‘Mystery’, that name imprinted on the woman’s
forehead is the perfect designation for Vatican City. Mystery is
at the very heart of Roman Catholicism, from the words
‘Mysterium Fide’, pronounced at the alleged
transformation of bread and wine into the literal body and blood
of Christ, to the enigmatic apparitions of Mary around the world.
Every sacrament, from baptism to extreme unction, manifests the
mysterious power which the faithful must believe the priests
wield, but for which there is no visible evidence."

Revelation 17 calls the woman a whore, and earthly kings are
accused of having committed fornication with her and that has
resulted in all those who live being made drunk with the wine of
her fornication. How can this fornication be explained to our
satisfaction? The answer comes when we understand that the Church
has been called into a spiritual role. Silver and gold have no
place in the propagation of the Gospel. The Roman Church has
committed fornication with the kings of the earth by being
obsessed with riches and earthly treasure. When identifying the
woman, we should remember the description of the woman in
Revelation. She is dressed in purple and scarlet. She is adorned
with gold, pearls and precious stones, with a golden cup in her
hand. The picture here is of enormous wealth.

Christ warned that the world would not love the true Christian
because such a person has been chosen out of the world, and so
the world would hate such a one. Not so Rome! The Vatican has
amassed treasure and gold almost without measure. Some of her
fabled wealth is kept hidden and is not even spoken of, but it
exists, nevertheless.

Billions, maybe trillions, have been reaped by various means;
(1) Selling salvation by instalment, (2) Family members paying
Priests to pray for dead family members to get them out of
purgatory (3) Indulgences and dis pensations (4) Banking
corruption (see David Yallop’s book ‘In
God’s Name’) (5) Mafia money laundering,
including drug money.

Hundreds of instances exist of Rome’s claim to universal
ownership (we own everything), but we record a small
cross-section of two. Pope Alexander VI claimed to own the world,
and by Papal grant, divided the world between Spain and Portugal.
Pope Gregory in 1372 claimed the whole world, secular and
religious, to be under Papal rule. This was never the Great
Commission.

In Revelation 17:6 John records that the woman on the beast is
drunk with the blood of the martyrs! The Inquisition still stands
as the greatest example of taking of human life outside of war in
the history of the world. In Spain alone, with seemingly
insatiable blood-lust, the leaders of the Catholic Church
condemned 3 million to death as martyrs, the false charge of
heresy being held against them.

Governments of nations sometimes apply the death penalty if
certain laws are transgressed such as unlawful murder, but only
one government on earth, the Vatican, has condemned millions to
death for an idea or a conviction of heart. It may very well be
the difficulty in establishing a strong Christian witness and not
seeing the real Church thrive in countries like Spain, Portugal,
France and Italy has much to do with the murderous spirit that
these nations embraced in their blood lust for killing
Christians. Surely when God judges nations these four will be in
the front line unless there is great repentance.

If we add the complicit agreement that Rome had with Hitler,
resulting in the death of 6 million Jews, and the uncounted
babies killed in Convents as the result of illicit sex, this
organization is bathed in blood, but it’s not the Blood of
Christ! Yet the Pope claims to be the Vicar of Christ! What
hogwash!
