The Death of Free Speech
One night,
probably in 1880, John Swinton, then the preeminent
New York journalist, was the guest of honour at a banquet given
him by the leaders of his craft. Someone who knew neither the
press nor Swinton offered a toast to the independent press.
Swinton outraged his colleagues by replying – "There is
no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in
America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it.
There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions,
and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in
print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the
paper I am connected with.
Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things,
and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest
opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If
I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper,
before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.
The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to
lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of
mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread.
You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an
independent press?
We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We
are the jumping jacks - they pull the strings and we dance. Our
talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of
other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."
Over a hundred years have passed by since that speech was
given and things have not got any better since that time. In fact
they have got much worse. It’s not just Editors who are
denying truth these days. Governments are falling over
themselves, along with the United Nations, to deny free speech,
to devalue constitutional rights, and introduce anti-vilification
and anti-discrimination laws, which without a doubt, have a
hidden agenda behind them.
That hidden agenda is to control the ‘human herd’
in such a way that a secular One-World Government can eventually
be introduced with a toothless, insipid, pseudo-church existing
as a counterfeit to the real. This is nothing less than a mix of
Totalitarianism, Dictatorship, Fabianism and Communism under
another name, all of which are driven by an antichrist spirit.
There is no love, joy or peace in such organisations.
Today, more than ever before, we are being fed half-truths,
manufactured stories, and sanitized reports that at times are so
transparently wrong, they insult the intelligence. Recent
examples are the War on Terror and its weapons of mass
destruction, the Port Arthur massacre, and the 9/11 Twin Towers
fiasco.
The ramifications for our secular society are bad enough when
free speech is gagged. It always has been and always will be the
doorway through which the worst examples of leadership and
government will enter, resulting in consistent abuse, wars, lies
and unaccountability.
While we may be concerned about our society descending into a
controlled open-air prison, we should have an even greater
concern for the one vehicle which throughout history, has been
the conscience of society - the Church! When the voice of the
Church is silenced, then righteousness and goodness become
immediate casualties.
And so it is today. We are seeing the gagging of the Church
happening on a world-wide scale. We inevitably read of terrible
things happening in America – prayer stopped in schools,
Pastors being jailed for preaching against homosexuality,
litigation being used as a weapon against the Church. Look around
friends – it’s coming to a town near you.
In Australia, we have recently seen the spectacle of two
Pastors being charged with anti-vilification and taken through
the Courts because they ran a seminar which had Islam as a
subject. I wonder what would happen if someone took someone to
court for vilifying Christianity. Millions vilify Christians
every day by using the name of Jesus as a curse word. If that day
comes when the roles are reversed however, don’t hold your
breath waiting for a just result. It just won’t happen!
Why?
The thing the secular authorities have no understanding of is
the fact that we are locked in a spiritual battle. I can
demonstrate that to Christian and non-christian alike by a very
simple proof – when people hit their thumb with a hammer,
why don’t they cry, "Oh Buddha" or "Oh Mohammed?" Because a
sin-filled, rebellious world denies the Bible truth which states
there is only one way to God, and that is through the man Jesus
Christ. And that simple Bible truth, spoken out, can be deemed as
vilification, discrimination and a hate crime against all other
religions. Can you now see my point?
This intolerable attack on human rights and freedom of speech
has been led by the United Nations, an anti-Christ, ungodly
organisation if there ever was one, which is the modern day
equivalent of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. Those days are now
being repeated. Mankind is determined to build its own Utopia
instead of honouring God. As it was in the past, so it will be in
the future. God destroyed their plans then and He will do so in
this age.
In recent times the United Nations placed massive pressure on
all nations to place in law ‘anti-discrimination’
legislation on the grounds of race, gender, sexual orientation,
age, marital status or religion. This Trojan horse has caused
many unwary, halfasleep Politicians to blindly allow the erosion
of free speech, the real agenda of this garbage.
In Australia, as in many other nations, we have established a
Human Rights Commission as a result of this. This entity has
caused the introduction of a dual Court system –
Traditional Common Law versus Human Rights law. The latter has
reintroduced principles which had long been discarded by
traditional Courts – people must appear at own expense on
the basis of allegations only, and before charges are laid.
Closed sessions are held and legal representation denied.
Individual rights, aired in open and fair courts, where justice
could be seen to be done have gone missing.
This is more than removing a right to disagree. It is the
silencing of the moral voice of society. How successful have
these faceless people been so far? Just take off the rose-tinted
spectacles and look around you. The world is in serious ethical
and moral decline. Even a fool can see it but not even a fool is
doing much about it.
