Keeping a Global Eye on Big Brother
Some of our readers will be aware
of the picturesque Pelorus Bridge and river, the home region of
the Omega Times. A short distance from our office is a scenic
reserve where a single lane bridge crosses over the Pelorus River
some 20 metres below. Last week my family and I drove out to the
Omega Times office to begin working on this edition of the
newspaper. While we worked heavy rain fell, and within a short
time the paddocks were awash and dry creek beds had become
torrents feeding into the Pelorus. Returning home the following
evening we stopped briefly on the bridge. The river had risen
dramatically to some 3 or 4 metres below where we stood. This
mighty torrent occurs because just before the water rushes under
the bridge, the river narrows into a small bottleneck of canyon
walls which causes the water to back up when the river is in
flood.
Upon reflection it seems that
world events are narrowing and focusing just like that river,
driving into a bottleneck towards a European Union (EU), one
world Government and peace in the Middle East.
Eurodollars for the UK
Recent events saw Britain turn
down adopting the Euro as its official currency with a view to
reviewing its position in 2004. Of interest the final decision
fell to Tony Blair and his long time colleague and friend the
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown. Blair has been quite
open about his support for the Union and adopting the Euro, "The
European Union is now the biggest political, economic alliance
anywhere in the world," Blair said. "If Britain is a member of
this club, for goodness sake, let's get in there, make our voice
heard, win the battles and do so with confidence. Let's not hang
about, always being half-hearted about it." Therefore, Brown is
believed to be largely responsible for stopping Britain
progressing further with the EU. This is interesting considering
that in September 1999 Brown was appointed the Chairman of the
interim committee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The
IMF is a well known tool and proponent of One World Government.
While chairing the committee Brown undoubtedly gained inside
knowledge about the plans for Europe’s future and
Britain’s part in that plan, including Britain’s
adoption of the Euro.
So why then did he stall? Since
Britain joined the EU in 1973 this moment was inevitable. Was it
because Britain did not pass the five economic tests determined
by him as necessary before joining or was it to prevent trouble
at home?
Presently there is only 33%
support at home for Britain adopting the Euro as there is concern
over losing the pound which has been in use for some 1000 years
and concern about losing national identity. With Blair openly
advocating for and Brown applying the brakes, Brown may
deliberately be trying to gather more conservative support for
the foregone changeover, thus reducing the number of problems
that may occur when it takes place. If that is the case, some
doubt would have to be thrown on leaked reports and rumours about
a rift between Blair and Brown. In reality it may be nothing more
than a ploy.
The EU spirit: Secular and Heathenistic
Europe is becoming increasing
secular while the rest of the world is seeing a greater religious
practise and commitment. Signs of this may be seen in the person
of Gerhard Schröder, who was the first German chancellor to
refuse to end his oath of office with the customary "so help me
God." Or Valery Giscard d’Estaing, the EU Chairman of the
Convention on the Future of Europe, a practising Catholic.
Giscard d'Estaing almost single-handedly prevented any reference
to God or Christianity in the text of the EU constitution. Or
this reported comment of one diplomat from France "We don't like
God."
Consider the following definition
from Webster’s Dictionary 1828 of that secret society the
Illuminati, who were/are involved in the early plans to establish
a one world Luciferian system some 300 years ago - Illuminati,
“The name given to certain associations of men in modern
Europe, who combined to overthrow the existing religious
institutions, and substitute reason, by which they expected to
raise men and society to perfection.”
Grace Davie who published a study,
Europe: the Exceptional Case, considers the marked
decline in institutional religion in northern Europe, and shows
how it has been paralleled by a decline in membership-based
institutions such as trade unions, political parties and a wide
range of leisure activities which require “gathering”
on a regular basis. Europeans, she says, are nowadays less
inclined to “belong” to anything.”
Leadership of the EU
It is no secret that the EU is
looking to move away from the temporary 6 monthly sharing of
leadership to electing a single president to lead for five year
periods. When the leader (the Anti-Christ) does come to power,
following close on his shirt tails will be a Religious leader
called in the book of Revelation the False Prophet (Revelation 16:13).
A secular EU of some 450 million people who believe
nothing and don’t belong to anything will easily fall prey
to the False Prophet and his miracles, as he looks to gather
support for, and confirm the Anti-Christ in his position of
European leader. To recall the words of an old song, “If
you don’t stand for something you will fall for
anything.” In the words of Matthew “He (the real
Christ) came unto His own (the Jewish people looking for their
Messiah) and His own received Him not. Another (false Christ)
will come in his own name, and him you will receive.”
America at risk
America may be in for interesting
times. Five days before war in Iraq started Rand Beers a top
White House counterterrorism adviser up and resigned. Beers
stated that there just was not enough being done to protect
America. He likened counterterrorism to a deadly game where there
is both offense and defense.
Since Sep 11 the increase in
intelligence about threats has increased 10 times, unfortunately
George Bush is purely on the offensive with little being done to
secure the homeland. More may now be done since the capture and
interrogation of top Al Qaeda operative Khalid Sheikh Mohammed
(KSM). KSM has disclosed that terror networks and cells have long
been established in the United States. Since Sep 11 due to
heightened security, Al Qaeda has been actively recruiting US
citizens or Westerners with legitimate passports while also
making an effort to recruit African-American Muslims.
KSM has revealed chilling plans to
destroy amenities such as the Brooklyn Bridge, gas stations, and
trains. There was even a plan to disrupt the US economy by
attacking key transportation nodes. Though KSM is now in custody
it is believed he has only served up the little fish to appease
interrogators. Of the many active Al Qaeda operatives in the US,
of major concern are lone wolves who undertook Al Qaeda training
in the 90’s and have gone on and created their own cells
without direct ties to Al Qaeda.
With this increased threat to US
security I then find it somewhat puzzling that Donald Rumsfeld
the US Defense secretary has announced that he is downsizing and
restructuring the 10 active duty divisions of the US army into
smaller and more easily deployable battle groups. Reducing the
numbers in your army while under threat of terrorist attack at
home or while fighting a war does not make much sense. You are
leaving yourself open to attack or without enough resources to
cope should something occur.
New Zealand & Australia – One?
It would appear that once more New
Zealand and Australia toyed with the idea of a Trans Tasman
dollar. Finance Minister Michael Cullen has told a business
audience in Sydney that a common Trans-Tasman currency is not a
good idea at this time following a study released by Westpac
(Bank) economists that indicates a single currency is not needed
at this stage of our comparative economic development. Dr Cullen
says the recent, strong appreciation of the New Zealand dollar
has focused attention on the economics of a single currency.
Remember that term is gradualism.
New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen
Clark knows when enough is enough. Despite what was said
officially, New Zealand was not offered a free trade agreement
with the US because NZ dared to not support the war in Iraq.
Australia, and very recently Singapore who also supported the war
effort were given what NZ had sought. It seems that America
looked to willing support for its cause. When it wasn’t
forthcoming, in diplomatic and political terms, threats and
intimidation were used. For NZ who chose to not support the war
without the sanction of the UN, the dangling carrot of a free
trade agreement was quickly withdrawn. New Zealand then watched
on as those who had supported the US were patronised, given a pat
on the head and a lolly.
Clark perceiving that the US is no
longer the biggest on the block, has turned her attentions to the
EU. Personally travelling to Europe and meeting with various
heads of State. Is New Zealand to completely abandon old ANZUS
relations and seek trade and protection elsewhere? Have we
decided that our future now lies with the EU, whose economy and
Euro are both stronger than that of the US?
With the emergence of the EU as a
superpower – there is no place for two. The US is going to
have to fall quietly into second place, if not be removed all
together.
Franco-American relationship in the red
President Chirac of France has
taken a strong stand against the US over the war in Iraq, and
continues to voice his displeasure. To the French, the US
position has not improved; they are still unable to produce
evidence of weapons of mass destruction.
France is the third strongest
economy in the EU and therefore carries significant weight. In
meetings have continued with Germany, France, Belgium and
Luxembourg discussing the proposed European defence force. Only
by creating a military compliment to the US, the thinking goes,
can Europe regain true influence in the world. It will be most
interesting to watch as the percolating relationship between the
US and EU/France. Read chapters 17 and 18 of the book of
Revelation in the bible. What do you think?
Growth in the EU
Ten East European countries are
expected to join the union next year which will only increase its
collective economic might and power. Turkey despite being
predominantly Muslim is keen to join and has begun the process of
making necessary adjustments to be acceptable to the EU. Russia
has also expressed an interest; however there are a number of
issues (including those of a Human rights nature) which need to
be resolved before it could be allowed in. Before our eyes and in
our era we are seeing the very fulfilling of Bible prophecy, but
despite all these new countries joining we remain ever interested
in the inner 10, the leaders and policy makers, from whom the
Anti-Christ will arise. Daniel 7:19-20 “Then I would know the
truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others,
exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his
nails of brass; which devoured, brake in
pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; And of the ten
horns that were in his head, and of the other
which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that
horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things,
whose look was more stout than his fellows.”
Matthew 24:32-34 “Now learn
a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and
putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise
ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near,
even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall
not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” Barry Smith
believed that ‘this generation’ as referred to by
Jesus, began in 1967 when ‘the fig tree’ (Jerusalem)
put forth her leaves (was taken out of Gentile control). It has
been 36 years since that took place – and perhaps we are
about to see some very significant events unfold rather
quickly.
At present we see a flurry of
activity in the Middle East to establish peace with the aid of
the US lead road map. President Bush is not the person who will
accomplish this. Perhaps matters will deteriorate (or stalemate)
to the point where a freshly appointed European Leader (on his
five year term) will step in and take over.
We wait and watch with much
anticipation for these are indeed very interesting times in which
we live.
