Times are changing
An interesting scripture found in the book of Daniel 7:25
speaks of a man called Anti-Christ, who will try and change time systems. We
quote:
"And he shall speak great words against the most
High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times
and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the
dividing of time." (emphasis added).
It is clear that this Anti-Christ man will seek to control
the world in many different ways including changing the time systems.
On a recent trip through South East Asia, The Straits
Times, Singapore, 18 July 2001, headlined:
"Bangkok may be in time with Singapore, KL -– Thai Prime
Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has proposed shifting the country's clocks one
hour forward in a radical attempt to boost the country's competitiveness.
Changing Thailand's time to match Singapore, Malaysia and
Hong Kong's -– which are currently an hour ahead -– is the latest proposal
from Mr Thaksin to help the country stave off recession and put the Stock
Exchange of Thailand (SET) on a level playing field with the region's
bourses.
The government believes that a uniform time zone would also
help promote trade and investment between Asian countries, and benefit investors
and businessmen who would have information that is as current as their
counterparts elsewhere in the region...
Agencies such as the SET will also be asked for views as Mr
Thaksin believes the change would be one way of keeping foreign speculators from
targeting the SET after other exchanges have closed.
He said that the economies of Singapore, Malaysia and Hong
Kong 'are in good health and our time adjustment would benefit the Thai
bourse, which will open and close at the same time as theirs',
But some analysts say the time change will have little
impact. They said the SET's lacklustre performance is due to the fundamental
weaknesses that make Thailand an unattractive proposition for investors...
Thailand's Cabinet is now drawing up a five-year plan with
a package of measures to counter the economic slowdown. It includes plans to
boost tourism, revive the stagnant property market, help small businesses and
boost domestic demand." (emphases added).
With all this information, there is little doubt that there
is panic spreading throughout the world finance market and it is our job to
recognise that in the book of Matthew 6:31-33, we read and understand the words
of our Lord Jesus Christ:
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or,
What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these
things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need
of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (emphasis
added).
Praise God for His faithful promises.
