How long to go?
My elderly mother, Vera Smith, is in her 95th year
and doing well. She mentioned to me that as you become older you notice many
more of your friends' names in the death column of the newspaper.
A media report recently pointed out the three ages of man:
- Youth
- Middle age
- "My word, you are looking well."
Over the past few years it has been very rewarding taking Old
Testament information and finding it to be a picture of something which is to
occur in the New Testament, although initially concealed.
For example, in the book of Genesis 5:3-24, we have God's list
of famous men who lived, then, moved on. Each name is listed, then shortly
after, we read the words, - "and he died."
1. | v3 Adam | v5 and he died |
2. | v6 Seth | v8 and he died |
3. | v9 Enos | v11 and he died |
4. | v12 Cainan | v14 and he died |
5. | v15 Mahalaleel | v16 and he died |
6. | v18 Jared | v20 and he died |
7. | v21 Enoch | v24 ... he was not, for God took him. |
In other words, there were six generations of death, and then
number seven went alive into heaven without dying.
2 Peter 3:8 tells us that one day with the Lord is as a 1000
years.
When I was a young man living in Samoa, an old pastor in a
back village sat me down and taught me:
"From Adam to Abraham -– 2000 years.
From Abraham to Christ -– 2000 years.
From Christ to Today -– 2000 years."
The Word of God makes it clear that the number of man, being
represented by the number 6, has brought us to this present day in the year
2001. Six days in God's sight are at an end.
Revelation 20:4 and Revelation 20:6 tell us that the
believers in Christ will reign with Him for 1000 years. That of course is the
seventh day.
We're at the end folks. Anybody who is going to become a
Christian must move quickly. Our time has run out, and the Lord is preparing to
return at an event called the rapture.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead
in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught
up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall
we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
This article was not written with the intent of frightening
anybody, but to enlighten all readers as to the fact that all the prophecies
regarding Christ's second coming are happening right at this present time.
A word of comfort from the lips of our Lord Jesus Christ,
particularly to those who know Him as Master, Lord and Saviour:
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:28
