Ted and Jane divorce
The NZ Herald, 24 May 2001, reads:
"Jane Fonda, the Academy Award winning actress, social
activist and fitness guru, has been granted a divorce from media mogul Ted
Turner, formally ending their 10-year marriage...
'I feel sadness,' the 63-year old actress said in a
statement read by Mayoue.
'We shared 10 years together and I will always care for him...'
Fonda's filing gave no reasons for the divorce other than
saying the marriage was 'irretrievably broken' with no hope of
reconciliation.
Turner, aged 62,...said in a recent interview that Fonda's
decision to become a Christian was a major reason for their break-up.
'It was a shock,' said Turner, known for his disdain of
religion..."
A verse from 1 Corinthians 7:15 seems to apply in this case:
"But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not
under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace."
(emphasis added).
It would be important for the reader of this article to read
the whole of 1 Corinthians chapter 7 in context, to get the true meaning of what
God is saying here.
